Application | benzyl magnesium chloride is a Grignard reagent. Grignard reagent is widely used in organic synthesis, mainly by the corresponding halogenated hydrocarbons and magnesium metal to prepare, but for some highly active halogenated hydrocarbons, such as allyl, benzyl halogenated hydrocarbons, the Grignard reagents formed during the preparation process tend to undergo coupling reactions with unreacted halogenated hydrocarbons. |
preparation | in 500ml with condensation reflux device, thermometer, heating device, stirring device, add 5.2g of magnesium powder (0.22mol, 10% excess) and 30ml of diethyl ether to a four-mouth glass glass flask in a constant pressure dropping funnel; Add 26.58G of benzyl chloride (0.2mol) after mixing with 70ml of diethyl ether to form a solution of benzyl chloride, the solution was added to a constant pressure dropping funnel, and 5ml of the solution of benzyl chloride was added dropwise to the flask; 1 iodine crystal was added to the flask. The Grignard reaction was initiated by heating, and stirring was initiated to thoroughly mix the contents of the flask. The remaining benzyl chloride solution was added dropwise to the flask, and the dropping acceleration was adjusted so that the solvent in the material was in a slow reflux state. After 20min, the benzyl chloride solution was added dropwise, and heating and refluxing were continued for 30min to obtain a benzyl magnesium chloride solution. |
